The New London Bulldogs earned their first win of the season on the road, defeating their Bay Conference rival, the Xavier Hawks.
The Hawks took the lead in the final minutes of the second quarter as Ben Kappel took a direct snap 27 yards for a touchdown to go up 7-0.
The Bulldogs responded on the ensuing drive with a quarterback keeper by Cory Brooker that led to a 57-yard touchdown run to tie the score at 7-7.
Running back Logan Ten Haken led the scoring for the rest of the game, adding two rushing touchdowns in the second half. His seven-yard run extended the Bulldogs’ lead to 21-7.
With just under three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Xavier scored on a 22-yard touchdown pass and added a two-point conversion, putting pressure on the Bulldogs. Still, the Bulldogs held on for a 21-15 win
