MANAWA – The City of Manawa has retained an attorney to assist in drafting an agreement for the dam between the city and the Township of Little Wolf.
In a unanimous vote, the council approved a measure to hire Brian Sajdak from Stafford Rosenbaum, a law firm out of Madison.
Mayor Mike Frazier said city attorney David Forsythe recommended for the city to hire a lawyer from outside the area with an expertise in drafting agreements of this nature.
At the July 22, 2024 city council meeting, a motion was approved to work towards the restoration of the mill pond to what it was prior to the torrential rainfall and dam breach.
The pursuit to restore the dam hit a snag when the city recently found out they would not be receiving funds from the state in the upcoming budget.
Frazier said at the recent city council meeting that the focus with the state budget was on education, health and infrastructure, wanting to use money for roads and bridges around the state.
