Clintonville 17U team eliminated early

Clintonville hosted the 17U State tournament, but was eliminated in the opening rounds of play.

Friday, July 25

Clintonville 0

CLINTONVILLE-In Clintonville’s first matchup against Fond Du Lac, they struggled to generate any offense, putting up only four hits, while allowing seven hits and committing three errors.

In the top of the third inning, Fond Du Lac went up 1-0 after Easton Schwartz scored on a passed ball.

Austin Demos drove in the second run on a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0 in the fourth inning. Two runs scored on a double by Tate Winter to make it a 4-0 lead, and a passed ball made the score 5-0. It became a 6-0 lead after an RBI by Ethan Ketelhut. Ketelhut would score on a passed ball to make the score 7-0 to wrap up the scoring in the fourth inning.

In the fifth inning, Fond Du Lac continued to pour it on as they went up 8-0, as Carson Fisher drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Schwartz scored on a passed ball, the score went to 9-0 at the end of the inning.

Schwartz scored again in the seventh inning, along with Fisher, to make the final score 11-0.

Appleton 14,
Clintonville 1

CLINTONVILLE- Clintonville was defeated on the second day of play by a visiting Appleton to end their time in the tournament.

Zander Martin, Jordan Sanders, and Oscar Crownhart each drove in a run in the opening inning and made the score 3-0.

In the third inning, Sanders, Crownhart and Zach Mueller extended the lead to 7-0 with a combined four RBI’s.

In the fourth inning, Appleton extended their lead with seven runs in the inning.

In the sixth inning, Clintonville scored its first run of the tournament with an RBI by Peyton Gross before the game was called in the sixth inning.
