Pallet company loses loader

Firefighters responded to a call shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Manufacturers’ Pallet Disposal Inc., 605 Industrial Drive, Waupaca.

According to Chuck Whitman, an assistant fire chief with the Waupaca Fire District, the motor of a front-end loader caught fire.

The loader was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Whitman said the equipment, which is used to transfer wood chips into trucks, was a total loss.

The flames from the loader spread to piles of sawdust and wood chips located behind the plant.

Nobody was reported injured.
