Otis “Otie” L. Fischer, age 96 of New London, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024 after a brief illness.
He was born on November 21, 1927 the only child of the late Otto and Gertrude (Mielke) Fischer Pankow. Otie graduated from Manawa High School. He married Mary “Jane” Adkins in 1949. Together for 60 years, they built a loving family, which was the pride and joy of his life. Otie grew up on a farm and loved the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and spent many hours fishing on the Wolf River and all throughout upper Wisconsin. Otie also loved motorcycles, which he rode until age 90. He built a cabin in Little Wolf, where his family had many special memories. Otie worked at the New London City Garage as a mechanic and Cline & Hanson Furniture store for over 30 years.
Otis is survived and deeply loved by his children, Steven (Wendy) Fischer and Faye (Rick) Heinze; grandchildren, Cynthia Lynn (Emily Jean Cox) Fischer, Angela (Rob) Cassill, Eric Heinze and Maria Heinze; great-grandchildren, Meycelle Miller (Keegan Brown), Vladmir Fischer and Wilber Cassill and his half-sisters, Marilyn Braun and Karen Coonen, along with their children.
In addition to his parents, Otis was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Jane”; his young son, Gregory and sister-in-law, Jackie Moderson.
The Funeral Service for Otis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. The visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the time of the service. Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London.
