On November 13, 2024, Paul Richard Hanson passed away peacefully, with his wife and girls by his side.
Paul was born to Harvey and LaVon (Schei) Hanson in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on August 5, 1961. Paul attended Waupaca High School and graduated in 1980. He met his future wife, Vera Hanson (Schulke) at Robert’s Pub where he was known to always order a shorty Pabst. He eventually convinced her to marry him on May 18, 1985. They had two daughters and five grandchildren. Paul was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a very proud Papa when his daughter Nicki fell in love with sharing his deer stand and getting her first buck. He worked in the grocery store business for 43 years where he met life-long friends. His kids always loved shouting into the milk cooler at the Pig to say hi to their dad. Over the years, he enjoyed taking trips with his wife, such as attending the Pro-Bowl in Hawaii and going on a hot air balloon ride for their 25th wedding anniversary. While a family road trip to Canada almost ended with a capsized boat, he enjoyed the week of fishing and drinking beer by the campfire. Paul had an endless number of hats, a genuine love for taking care of his family, and a sense of humor that was truly unique.
Paul is survived by his dedicated wife, Vera Hanson; his precious daughters, Noel (Jon) Seroy and Nicole (Adam) Vanden Boogard; grandchildren: Aubree “Blue Eyes” Hanson, Evan and Mia Seroy, Austin and Noah Vanden Boogard; devoted mother: LaVon Glodowski; brothers: Dave Hanson, Jon Hanson and William (Chelsea) Hanson; step-brothers: Dan (Maggie) Glodowski and Albert (Liz) Glodowski and step-sister, Karen (Duane) Bruns; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Hanson; step-dad, Norb Glodowski; brother, Mike Hanson; sister-in-law, Kathy Hanson; and in-laws, Verlyn and Joann Schulke. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff at Cherry Meadows and St. Joseph Trinity Terrace who cared for Paul during the last couple of months of his life. A special thank you to his favorite CNA, Breann.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
