The Iola-Scandinavia softball team defeated the top 10 ranked Manawa, 10-7, in a CWC-East match-up.
After Iola-Scandinavia built a 7-0 lead by scoring two runs in the second inning and five in the third, Manawa responded with seven runs on six hits.
The Thunderbirds regained the lead with two runs in the fourth inning. They added an insurance run in the seventh inning while holding the Wolves scoreless.
Iola-Scandinavia outhit Manawa 15-9. Rayanne Clendenning, Brylee Jueds and Libby Maus had three hits each and a double. Clendenning and Maus each drove in three runs. Maya Munoz and Emma Printz each had two hits.
For Manawa, Kelsey Behnke, Lily Krenke and Briley Rosin each had two hits, including a two-run double by Rosin.
Clendenning went the distance to earn the win for the Thunderbirds.
Olivia Zielke started the game for Manawa and pitched 2⅓ innings.
