This is the culmination of preparing and presenting 10 different project speeches from the Competent Communication manual. Each project is designed to develop speaking skills one step at a time. The Toastmaster learns how to research and organize a speech and how to use vocal variety and body language to capture the attention of an audience.
In this age of electronic communication, it's become even more important for an individual to learn how to communicate face to face - especially in the work environment. Belonging to Toastmasters has given many a prospective employee that extra edge needed to get hired.
Because the Toastmasters program isn't a college or trade school course, there are no formal instructors, tests or grades. What you will find in a Toastmasters meeting, is people from differing backgrounds coming together to strengthen their communication and leadership skills. Toastmasters helps people gain self-confidence and tackle the fear of speaking up, whether in business or family situations.
The next Toastmasters meeting will be held on March 3 at 7 p.m. in FVTC-Waupaca Campus (1979 Godfrey Drive, Waupaca).
Waupaca Area Toastmasters is one of over 90 clubs in District 35 (Wisconsin and upper Michigan) belonging to Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that helps develop an individual's communication and leadership skills in a non-threatening environment.
