Latender, Shane A.

Shane A. “Shane-E-Man” Latender, age 27, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 6, 2024, in Keshena, Wisconsin.

He was born on May 7th, 1996, in Shawano, WI to John “Hub” Latender and Linda Sue Penass. He graduated from Shawano High School with the class of 2014, where he enjoyed playing baseball. During and after high school he also played in the B.A.B.A for the Menominee Indian Baseball Team, where he gained many meaningful friendships. Throughout the years Shane was employed with Menominee Tribal Enterprises, Menominee Casino Resort, a sawyer with Lepscier Logging, and more recently a caretaker for his brother Kyle. He was an enrolled member of the Menominee Nation where he enjoyed the outdoors of his homeland. This included fishing, hunting, and cutting firewood. Because of his good nature and easy-going personality, he could socialize and befriend any generation, young or old. He also had a special place in his heart for all his family, especially his niece Rikki and nephew Rian. He was an avid fan of the Bucks, Brewers and Packers and country music.

Shane is survived by his parents, his sister – Renee “Kās” Latender and his brother – Sean “Kenēw” Latender. Nieces - NiLeah, RyAnna, Rikki, nephews TJ and Rian. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and special brothers – Lowell, Ronnie, Keenan, Warren, Kyle, Alex, Will, Dillon, Jeff, AJ, Mark, Derrick, Dean, Bun, Bill W and Bill Jr, and special relationship with the Ol’ Man – Bill.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Clayton “Brokie” and Ramona Skenadore. Paternal grandparents Simon Jr. and Marcella Latender. Cousins Daphne and Teddy, great nephew Salem, and special brothers Nāēcīwat, DJ, Big Bill, and Don Juan.

Traditional services and visitation will be held at the family residence located at N885 Lyons Road Keshena, WI. Visitation will start at 3:00 pm on Thursday May 9th , and services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday May 11th, with burial to follow at the Menominee Nation Cemetery.
