Local swimmers qualify for state

The local area will be well represented at the 2024 WIAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championship Nov.15-16 at the Waukesha South Natatorium.

The Stevens Point Panthers have several swimmers participating in Division 1 after qualifying at sectionals in Hudson on Nov.9 and winning the sectional championship with a team score of 347.

The Panthers 200-yard medley relay team will compete in heat two after qualifying with a time of 1:49.84, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team will also compete in heat two after posting a qualifying time of 3:38.56.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Stevens Point junior Klare Pilger will compete in heat two after qualifying with a 2:08.31.

Both Pilger and junior Claire Lemke will compete for Stevens Point in the 100-yard backstroke as Pilger qualified with a time of 00:56.51 and will compete in heat 3, and Lemke posted a time of 00:59.94 and will compete in heat 1.

In division 2, Clintonvilles' Addy Lundt qualified for the state championships during sectionals in Ashwaubenon. Lundt won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.01, putting Lundt in heat two at the state meet. Lundt took third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.74 and will participate in heat one at state.
