New classes proposed at W-F schools

Several proposed new high school classes will go before the Weyauwega-Fremont School Board next month for final approval.

The vote on the classes is scheduled to take place during the board's Dec. 12 meeting. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school library.

District Administrator Scott Bleck said the classes would then be implemented for the 2012-13 school year.

The classes being proposed are: statistics, trigonometry, graphic arts, our backyard and advanced leadership. Statistics would be a two-semester class; the others would be one-semester classes.

If approved, a minimum of 12 students will be required to have each class.

During the board's Nov. 14 meeting, Jason Liegl, who teaches math at W-F High School, said students have been asking for upper-level math classes for some time.

"We're pushing more math all the time," he said. "Many are taking four years (of math)."
