Karen S. Peters, age 88, of Waupaca, passed away on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 at ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca.

She was born in Danville, IL on August 1, 1936, a daughter of the late Henry and Reva (Osborn) Peters.

Karen graduated Amundsen High School in Chicago at 16 yrs of age. At 18 she started nursing school beginning her lifelong career of nursing, administration and instruction. She worked at University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago Illinois as Assistant Director of Nursing before moving to Weyauwega, WI to assume the position of Director of Nursing at Riverside Community Memorial Hospital in Waupaca in 1979. Karen retired in 1998. In her free time she enjoyed boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, camping, traveling, music and just hanging out with family and friends. She also enjoyed working with wood making projects such as cradles for her great nieces and nephews. She was a regular at the Senior Center in Waupaca. She was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles. There was always a special place in her heart for dogs and cats. Karen’ pride and joy was her family & friends.

Survivors include Partner: Wanda Lee, Weyauwega, WI; Nieces: Julie (Arliss) Sorenson, Wild Rose, WI; Nancy (John) Button, Waupaca, WI; Great Nieces & Nephews: Brian Sorenson; Andrew Sorenson; Michelle (Craig) Boonstra; Amy (Hank Zblewski) Sorenson; Sean (Cheyenna) Sorenson; Loretta (Mark) Turner; Rebecca (Andrew) Paugels. She is further survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents - Henry and Reva Peters, a brother - Henry Peters, a sister - Sharon Tibbs and a niece - Deborah Tibbs.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca at 12:00 (Noon) on Thursday, September 19th, 2024. Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Waupaca County Humane Society in her name.
