Kaukauna and Hortonville, both hoping for their first win, played each other on Thursday, September 4. Hortonville lost away from home.

The Ghosts found the end zone in the second quarter as quarterback Ryan Carrel found tight end Bennet Geitner, who snuck past the defense for a 50-yard touchdown reception to make the score 7-0.

A three-yard touchdown run by Aiden Reardon put the lead at 14-0 for the Galloping Ghosts.

Reardon’s second touchdown run of the second quarter gave the Ghosts a 21-0 lead as he took a handoff 26 yards for a score.

Kavanaugh Weyenberg connected on a 42-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to give Kaukauna a 24-0 lead going into the locker room.

The Polar Bears got on the board with a three-yard touchdown run and a successful two-point conversion to cut into the Ghosts’ lead and made the deficit 24-8.

Kaukauna responded with a drive that was capped by a quarterback keeper as Carrel scored from 15 yards out, and the score went to 30-8.

In the fourth quarter, Muhammad Jobe broke free for a 57-yard run, pushing the Ghosts’ lead to 37-8.

The Polar Bears added a 47-yard touchdown pass late in the game, but the Ghosts held on for a 37-16 win.

LITTLE CHUTE 42,
WAUPACA 0

LITTLE CHUTE-The Waupaca Comets were handed their third loss of the season as they traveled to take on the Little Chute Mustangs.

The Mustangs scored in the first 15 seconds of the contest as Jaden Hermsen took a quarterback keeper, 52 yards for the score to go up 7-0.

A 59-yard run by Reece Joten made the score 13-0 in favor of Little Chute in the final minutes of the first quarter.

Little Chute drove down the field to the goal line and punched it in with a one-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 20-0.

Joten made the score 27-0 when he took a handoff 26 yards for a touchdown just before the end of the half.

In the third quarter, Joten scored his third rushing touchdown as he ran up the sideline into the end zone to make the score 35-0, after a successful two-point conversion.

The Mustangs tacked on one more touchdown in the fourth quarter as they won by a final score of 42-0.

ABBOTSFORD 39,
IOLA-SCANDINAVIA 0

IOLA-The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds lost their second straight game, this time to Abbotsford.

The Thunderbirds were missing the presence of senior quarterback Jensen Rice and top recruit Korz Loken, who were out of the game with injuries.

Abbotsford scored 13 points in each of the first three quarters and racked up 480 yards on the ground.

NORTHLAND PINES 19,
MANAWA 6

EAGLE RIVER-The Manawa Wolves dropped their third game in a row, losing on the road to Northland Pines.

The Wolves scored their first points of the season as Wyatt Drath scored a rushing touchdown to give Manawa a 6-0 lead before Northland Pines scored 19 unanswered points in the second half.

SHIOCTON 35,

CLINTONVILLE 0

SHIOCTON-The Truckers fell to 0-3 as they traveled to take on the rival Shiocton Chiefs on Sept. 5.

The Clintonville offense could only generate 92 yards of total offense throughout the game.

WINNECONNE 48,
NEW LONDON 6

WINNECONNE- On the road, the New London Bulldogs could not slow down the high-powered offense of Winneconne.

The Winneconne Wolves quarterback and University of Iowa commit Brody Schaffer racked up yards and points through the air and on the ground as he threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 91 yards and a score.

The Bulldogs had a lone touchdown when quarterback Dane Meyer connected with Logan Ten Haken with a 15-yard touchdown pass.

WITTENBERG-BIRNAMWOOD 34,
WEYAUWEGA-FREMONT 7

The Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks took their first loss of the season on the road against the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers.

The Chargers running back Kaden Yaeger led the way with 186 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

The only touchdown for the Warhawks was a touchdown pass from Carter Birdyshaw to Bryce Magdanz, as the offense was missing running back Dawson Lind.
