WAUPACA – Waupaca County residents gathered to voice their concerns over the current administration on April 12, as the third “Save our Democracy” protest once again swung into town last weekend.
Mary Naylor, the organizer of the rally, said the numbers of people in attendance is growing with each event, with about 75 showing up on the first rally on March 8.
The second rally took place on March 22 with about 100 people in attendance. This past weekend about 140 showed up waving signs and gathering downtown.
“We promote this grassroots event as a peaceful, non-partisan rally to support American democracy,” Naylor said.
Naylor said she started planning the rally when she, along with the help of local organizations, neighbors and friends wanted to do something to show their disagreement with the new administration and their policies.
Naylor said the next rally will be April 19 which coincides with the National Day of Action. The rally will take place in downtown Waupaca on the square.
Naylor said they will be collecting food items and are asking those in attendance to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Waupaca Library’s food pantry.
