Curtis James "Curt" Rush, 55, of New London passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 10th, 2025. Curt was born on August 4, 1969, in Oconto Falls to the late James Sr. and Lavonna (Huntington) Rush. He graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1987. On May 4, 2002, Curt married Tina Petit at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. Curt worked a couple jobs after high school before spending 18 years with the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department, where he recently retired. In his free time, Curt enjoyed watching Wisconsin sports, especially the Milwaukee Brewers. He also enjoyed UTVing, going to the Shawano races, camping with his family and friends, softball, bowling, and ice fishing. Curt was a fun loving husband, father, Poppy, brother, uncle and friend; he will be deeply missed by so many.
Curt is survived by his loving wife, two children Mariah (Travis), and Owen; grandchildren,Wesley, Paisley, and Timothy; siblings,Tina (Scott) Martin, Deanna (Pat) Roberts, James Rush Jr., and Stephanie (Mike) Bendtschneider; mother-in-law Dorothy Petit; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Chris) Petit and Jerry Petit. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Curt is preceded in death by his son, Ethan; parents, James Sr. and Lavonna; grandparents, and father-in-law, Larry Petit.
The Funeral Service for Curt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Pastor Tiefel officiating. The visitation will take place on Friday, May16, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and again on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
