April 3 – A student at Ben Franklin Junior High School was seen on cameras to be in possession of nicotine pouches and a pack of cigarettes.
April 4 – A man was issued a citation for littering after seen on camera at the Band Shell kicking his trash around the property and into the street.
April 4 – An officer arrived to Washington Elementary School as staff members were catching a child who left school property. The officer entered the school with staff members and the child, and once inside the school the child continued to try and run out of the school building which forced the school to put a hallway into lockdown.
April 4 – A 37 year old male was arrested on a Portage County warrant at Kwik Trip on Stanley Street.
April 4 – Officers responded to UWSP campus in response to a male with a probation warrant. The male was located and placed under arrest for a probation hold.
April 4 – A mother reported that her son was yelled at and chased by a homeless man. A description of the man could not be given, but the incident occurred downtown.
April 5 – Officers were dispatched to Kwik Trip on Church Street in regards to a 15-year-old male that ran away from home following a disturbance. An investigation occurred and resulted in charges being referred to the district attorney’s office.
April 5 – Officers responded to the Band Shell for a man using drugs. The male was later arrested on drug charges.
April 5 – A woman on Dixon Street reported that two female juveniles were ringing her Ring doorbell and then leaving. The woman said that the last time the females rang her doorbell they taped a piece of paper over the camera of the doorbell.
April 5 – Reports came in detailing a large protest in front of the Stevens Point Post Office. Officers described not seeing any violations of the law and asked the post office staff to keep them posted if anything escalated. No further action was taken.
April 6 – Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Second Street for a vehicle that failed to stop at red flashing lights. The traffic stop resulted in one male arrested for OWI.
April 6 – Officers responded to a call from a female who said she heard a male threatening to jump off a bridge as he walked by. The area was searched and the male was not located.
April 6 – A male was screaming at Main Street and Frontenac Avenue. The responding officer described the male as very agitated; the male later claimed he was preaching. The male refused to identify himself other than a first name. The male was advised to keep his volume down while preaching.
April 6 – Officers dispatched to Mead Park responded to a report of a known female causing a disturbance. Contact was made with the female who was then arrested on five counts of felony bail jumping.
April 6 – K9 Coye conducted a search at the Kwik Trip on Church Street, which resulted in a female’s arrest for possession of methamphetamine and resisting/obstructing.
April 7 – On The Square, two males were observed shooting what appeared to be a pellet gun at a friend. One male was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without permit, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and disorderly conduct.
April 7 – A mother reported that her juvenile neighbor showed an inappropriate picture or video to her juvenile daughter.
April 7 – A Portage County Deputy notified Stevens Point Police Officers that a motorcycle entered Stevens Point on Highway 10 near Badger Avenue traveling at speeds of 100 miles per hour.
April 8 – A male came into the police department to report that another male had been stalking him. He described an altercation that happed in late Aug. of 2024 where the male said that his alleged stalker yelled at him. The male told his alleged stalker to walk away in ten seconds or he would be punched in the face.
April 8 – A female said she was being contacted by someone sending her vague threats. The officer stated they did not observe any actual threats in the texts. Whoever is contacting the female knows where she lives, what she does for work, and her vehicle. The number did not come back to anyone after dispatch searched for it.
April 8 – A student at Ben Franklin Junior High School punched another student in the eye, causing an abrasion. The student was cited for disorderly conduct and picked up by a parent.
April 8 – An officer took complaint from Subway on Church Street regarding an employee who stole $20 from the cash register. The suspect was cited via certified mail for theft of $15-$50.
April 8 – A man found a trail camera on city property next to his house. The camera was pointing towards his garage and house, which made the man suspicious. He took it down and upon a search of the SD card nothing suspicious was found, it appeared the camera’s owner was looking for deer.
