Posted

The Comets baseball team took on Freedom at home on April 17 in a matchup of two North Eastern conference teams.

Waupaca scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning as Aaron Wolff drove in a run with a single, putting the Comets up 1-0.

Carson Peters put a run on the board for Freedom as he knocked in a triple to bring in a runner and tie the game.

A sacrifice fly by Braedon Dayton on the next at-bat for Freedom brought in a runner from third base to make it a 2-1 score.

Carlton Romitti gave Freedom a run in the top of the fifth as he hit down the first base line for a single to bring in a run, making it a 3-1 game.

A Chase Calmes sacrifice fly brought in a fourth run to give Freedom the 4-1 lead in the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Cael Prey gave Waupaca some life as he drove in two runs with a double to cut Freedom’s lead to 4-3.

It would not be enough as Freedom closed out the seventh and final inning.
