Mother in Amber Alert case makes court appearance

Posted

STEVENS POINT — Chelsie Lehmann, 31, made her initial appearance in Portage County Court on Oct. 27 in relation to the Amber Alert that was issued in Sept. for her missing six-year-old child.
Lehmann is currently being held on a $10,000 cash bond in connection to her daughter’s disappearance that set off an Amber Alert.
An Amber Alert began on Sept. 11 after Lehmann’s child was last seen that afternoon. The child was safely found on Sept. 13 in the woods near Almond School Forest with her uncle, Jordan Coyle, who remains in custody.
Chelsie Lehmann was arrested on Sept. 16 in connection to the Amber Alert. Lehmann and her minor children began living in an Almond residence with Coyle. Due to his felony child sex offense, Coyle was not allowed to reside with children. Upon learning this, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections issued a warrant for his arrest.
Coyle began avoiding law enforcement, including fleeing from his residence on Sept. 9 upon law enforcement’s arrival. Lehmann is alleged to have aided or harbored Coyle during this time, in addition to permitting or encouraging him to violate the terms of his supervision by having ongoing contact with her six-year-old child.
Lehmann faces criminal charges of Aiding or Harboring a Felon and Encouraging a Violation of Probation, Extended Supervision, or Parole. During Lehmann’s Sept. 16 bond hearing, the state requested a $20,000 cash bond, however a cash bond was set at $10,000 with the conditions to have no contact with her six-year-old child and Jordan Coyle.
On Oct. 27, Lehmann made her initial appearance in court while appearing by video in custody at Waupaca County Jail. Lehmann and her attorney waived a reading of the criminal complaint. During this appearance, Lehmann’s attorney introduced amending Lehmann’s bond. While court records show there was not time for Lehmann’s attorney to address bond during her initial appearance, on that same day her attorney filed a motion to modify the bond.
