Two injured in crash on State 54

Two people were seriously injured in a crash shortly before 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the town of Mukwa.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Lois Sales, New London, was attempting to exit a driveway onto State Highway 54 about one-quarter mile east of Otto Road. Her SUV apparently lost traction on the icy driveway, then gained traction and went into the path of an eastbound vehicle.

Kenneth Edin, 66, New London, swerved into the westbound lane of State 54, but was unable to avoid colliding with the SUV, striking the driver’s side door, police reported.

Sales was thrown from her vehicle during the crash. ThedaStar flew her from the scene to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

Edin was taken by ambulance to New London Family Medical Center, then flown to Theda Clark.
