New London man accused of internet fraud

Ronald J. Durand II, 36, New London, was charged with four felony counts of theft through misrepresentation and 10 counts of misdemeanor theft.

Durand is accused of selling tickets to professional and college football games via Craig’s List to dozens of people throughout the country. None of these people obtained their tickets, even though Durand allegedly took their money.

Durand told investigators he defrauded about 40 people over a three-month period and took more than $40,000.

According to the criminal complaint, Durand said he “needed money for gambling as he was trying to get himself out of a hole by gambling more with other people’s money to try to recoup his losses.”
