After a slow start, the season is finally in full swing for the Waupaca track team.
The Comet boys placed second April 10 at the Wautoma Invitational, the girls placed seventh the same day at the Wausau West Invitational and both teams placed second April 8 at the Wautoma Relays.
Wautoma Invitational
WAUTOMA – Firsts for the boys went to Nic Joch in the 200-meter dash (23.44); Mitchell Rotta in the 1,600-meter run (4:52.79); Christian Overman in the 110-meter hurdles (16.14); and the 800-meter relay team of Joch, Brogan Kendziora, Drew Simonson and Steven Canterbury (1:36.59).
Also placing were Rotta, second, 3,200-meter run; Kendziora, second, 300-meter hurdles; Overman, third, 110-meter hurdles, fifth, 300 hurdles, and sixth, triple jump; Eric Bolwerk, fourth, 3,200 run; Simonson, sixth, 100-meter dash; the 400-meter relay team of Overman, Simonson, Kendziora and Canterbury, second; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Canterbury, Jake Piencikowski, Joch and Jake Schlender, fifth.
Wausau West Invitational
WAUSAU – The 1,600 relay team of Tatiana Sotka, Alisa Masias, Michelle Petkovsek and Macie Davidson placed first with a time of 4:35.85.
Also placing were Sotka, second, 200-meter dash, fourth, 55-meter dash, and eighth, long jump; Masias, fifth, 200-meter hurdles, and eighth, 55-meter hurdles; Christina Rasmussen, seventh, 3,200 run; Petkovsek, eighth, 1,600 run; and the eight-lap relay team of Ashley Mertz, Kelsie Krawczyk, Cassie Rasmussen and Davidson, seventh.
Wautoma Relays
WAUTOMA – Firsts went to Davidson in the girls’ long jump (15 feet, 9 inches); and the girls’ 1,600 relay team (4:19.8).
Also placing were Davidson and Leah Piotter, tied for second, high jump; Dakotah Revai, second, boys’ shot put, and sixth, discus; Overman, third, triple jump; Masias, fifth, long jump; Piencikowski, tied for sixth, boys’ high jump; the boys’ 400 relay team, second; the boys’ 800 relay team, third; the boys’ 1,600 relay team, fourth; the boys’ 3,200 relay team, fifth; the girls’ 400 relay team, sixth; the girls’ 3,200 relay team, third; the boys’ SMR (200, 200, 400, 800) relay team, third; the girls’ SMR relay team, second; the girls’ 400-meter shuttle hurdle relay team, fifth; and the boys’ 440-meter shuttle hurdles relay team, third.
