Truckers slowed by Bulldogs

The Clintonville High School baseball team played a non-conference game against New London on Thursday, May 14 and were defeated 13-6.

Clintonville wasted little time getting on the scoreboard scoring a run in the first inning. New London answered with three runs in their half of the inning.

After two scoreless innings Clintonville’s offense broke loose in the fourth inning by sending four runners across home plate. New London was up to the challenge, though, as they put up four of their own runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Bulldogs didn’t let up, scoring four more runs in the next inning and two more in the sixth inning.

The Truckers did score another run, but it wasn’t enough, as they fell 13-6.

Clintonville had only four hits in the game, with Zac Riemer, Nick Hogan, Jaden Doornink, and Hunter Vollmer each had a hit.

Riemer also scored three runs.

Tommy Thurber was the top hitter for New London, collecting three hits and driving in three runs. Brayden Kurth, Will Wohlt, Kyle Wolf, and Hunter Ferminich each had two hits, while Tyler Jagiello, Austin Hanson, Alex Stichman, and Aaron Yorkson each had one hit.

Wohlt also had three runs batted in.

Vollmer took the loss for Clintonville giving up six earned runs in four innings. Doornink pitched two innings of relief, giving up five earned runs.

Ferminich got the win for New London, throwing two innings in relief and giving up one earned run.

Tylan Brown started the game for New London giving up four runs in two innings. Two of the runs were earned. He walked six and struck out two.

Yorkson finished the game on the mound for New London.
