Airport project takes off

FAA providing $750,000 for improvements

The pavement on the Waupaca Municipal Airport-Brunner Field terminal area apron and associated taxiway will be reconstructed.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 29 and be completed by October.

It will not disrupt airport operations.

Governor Scott Walker approved an $833,334 project to upgrade the airport’s airfield pavements.

His action releases $41,667 in state funds for the project.

The city of Waupaca is contributing $41,667 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $750,000 toward the project.

The project will improve safety and efficiency at the airport, according to Michael Gabor, an engineering specialist and project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Waupaca’s airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding.

Airport improvement projects are administered through the Wisconsin DOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
