Felony charge follows overdose

A Waupaca man who was found unconscious on the bathroom floor now faces a felony drug charge.

Ryan P. Lick, 28, Waupaca, is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, Lick’s father called for an ambulance.

When paramedics arrived, they found Lick unresponsive and barely breathing. They also reported finding a vial of Narcan in the bathroom sink and a syringe, according to the criminal complaint.

They administered more Narcan and Lick gradually regained consciousness.

Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Pete Kraeger also responded to the call. He reported seeing Lick attempt to place a plastic container in his pocket. Kraeger seized the container. It reportedly contained heroin.

In May, Lick was convicted of a third drunken driving offense and sentenced to 80 days in jail with 60 days stayed under the Safe Streets Treatment Options Program. His license was revoked for 27 months and he was ordered to install an ignition interlock device (IID) on his vehicle.

On July 23, Lick was pulled over and subsequently cited for operating while revoked and failure to install an IID.
