The 12th ranked team in Division 3, Amherst Falcons hosted 18th-ranked Westfield on May 1.
Amherst got down early as Westfield took an early lead after an error led to a score to make the early deficit 1-0 in the second inning.
Sully Perkins tied the score for Amherst as he hit a line drive single to make the score 1-1, as drove in Logan Hintz in the bottom of the second inning.
The Falcons took control of the game in the third inning, as Gage Glodowski drove in a run on a single to make the score 2-1, Levi Cullen scored on a fielder’s choice, Gage Glodowski scored on an error and Hintz scored on a ground out to make the score 5-1.
Westfield scored a run on a single to make the deficit 5-2 in the top of the fourth inning.
Amherst extended their lead in the fourth inning, as a bases loaded hit by pitch made the score 6-2.
In the sixth inning, Westfield scored a run on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 6-3, but they could not muster another run as the score remained unchanged the remainder of the game and Amherst walked away with the victory.
