SCANDINAVIA – The eighth annual Halloween Spooktacular will return from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 25, at Jorgens Park Preserve.
The free, family-friendly event welcomes visitors of all ages to celebrate the season with a variety of outdoor activities and autumn treats.
Attendees can participate in Trunk-or-Treat organized by the Scandinavia Booster Club, featuring vehicles decorated by community groups including Community Coffee and Norseman 4-H.
Other planned highlights include hay wagon rides and games sponsored by the Friends of Jorgens Park Preserve, Halloween-themed story readings hosted by the Scandinavia Public Library, a pumpkin catapult supported by Iola-Scandinavia Scouts Troop 631 and Turner’s Fresh Market, and a “haunted” barn sponsored by the Hayes family.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon, including walking tacos and hot dogs. Proceeds from general food sales will help fund maintenance and future improvements at the park, while sales from caramel apple sundaes will directly benefit Norseman 4-H.
The Halloween Spooktacular is presented by the Friends of Jorgens Park Preserve, the Scandinavia Booster Club, Iola-Scandinavia Scout Troop 631, Norseman 4-H, and the Scandinavia Public Library, with additional assistance from Premier Community Bank, Turner’s Fresh Market, and the Thrivent Action Team.
Located at 880 North Shore Drive along Silver Lake, the 40-acre preserve offers free parking off State Highway 49. Vehicle registration for Trunk-or-Treat is available by contacting Sue Barlow at 715-467-2868. Volunteer and donation inquiries for the park can be directed to Carl Lantz at 715-467-2731.
