HORTONVILLE-The 10th ranked soccer team in the state, the Hortonville Polar Bears won the Fox Valley Association championship delivering a clinical 3-0 shutout performance against the Kimberly Papermakers on Oct. 1.
With the victory, Hortonville moves to an impressive 11-1-1 overall record.
Hortonville’s offense overwhelmed the Papermakers in second half. The Polar Bears controlled the pitch on both ends. Hortonville made the most of their primary scoring chances, finishing with a perfect 100% shot-on-goal conversion rate by turning all three shots on goal into scores.
Noah Rindt led the charge up front, recording two goals on two shots on goal recording four total points.
Roman Glad contributed heavily to the attack with one goal and one assist. Anthony Zanon orchestrated the midfield build-up and picked up one assist.
Eli Ryan was a stalwart in goal for all 80 minutes, racking up nine key saves to preserve the clean sheet and halt any second-half momentum for the Papermakers.
Offensive Surge: Over their last four matches, Hortonville has outscored opponents by a combined margin of 22-2 (5-1 vs. Appleton North, 8-0 vs. Appleton West, 6-1 vs. Oshkosh West, 3-0 vs. Kimberly).
The Polar Bears look to maintain their spot atop the conference standings as they prepare to host Kaukauna High School on Oct. 6.
