Iola-Scandinavia outpaces Rosholt in eight-player football

ROSHOLT-The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds put together a total-team performance on Sept. 11 overpowering the Rosholt Hornets 52–8 on the road.

The Thunderbirds’ offense fired on all cylinders, racking up 325 total yards and five offensive touchdowns while converting five two-point attempts.

QB Mason Kriesel led the way through the air, completing 8 of 12 passes for 144 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Freshman Blake Desrochers came in to add a 29-yard touchdown pass to Easton Desrochers.

Brody Peterman paced the ground effort with 45 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on 12 carries. Broghan Gullixon added 66 yards on seven carries, while Korz Loken, Dawson Nunz, and James Olson each found the end zone on the ground.

Tight end Korz Loken made the most of his touches, hauling in three catches for a team-high 83 yards. Broghan Gullixon added a receiving touchdown to go with his strong rushing performance.

The Thunderbirds’ defense completely stymied Rosholt’s running game, limiting the Hornets to just 25 rushing yards on 20 carries and recording 10 tackles for loss.

Tanner Kampert anchored the defense with a team-high nine tackles; Wyatt Wolberg wreaked havoc in the backfield, piling up eight tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks.
Loken provided pressure on defense, finishing with six tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.

Briggs Wogsland and Braeden Erickson each recovered a fumble to gain extra possessions for the Thunderbirds.

Rosholt managed a single touchdown late through the air, but couldn’t keep pace against Iola-Scandinavia.
