Hortonville’s soccer season ends

Posted

In a rematch from Sept. 19, the Hortonville Polar entered the match boasting a formidable 16-2-1 record, but the De Pere Redbirds  controlled the tempo from the opening whistle to the final horn in the WIAA sectional semifinal, securing a decisive 3–0 shutout victory.

De Pere’s attack was surgical, converting every single shot on target into a goal.

Nick Myers broke through the defense with a score, putting De Pere on the board early.

Evan Thiem matched the intensity, capitalizing on his chance to extend the lead.

Maxim Skurka set up a goal before finding the net himself to record a team-high three points on the night.

Grayson Herber added to the offensive flow with an assist to round out the scoring.

In the net for Hortonville, goalkeeper Eli Ryan put up a valiant effort, turning away five shots across 75 minutes of heavy pressure before David Grasse stepped in to finish the final 5 minutes of play.

On the other side of the pitch, De Pere’s backline and goalkeeping crew stood strong, denying all seven of Hortonville’s total chances to lock in a clean sheet. With the 3–0 win in the books, De Pere improved their record to 19–2.
