Preschool offers free school-readiness program

Posted

WAUPACA – This school year, Tiny Treasures began offering Get Kids Ready, a new Wisconsin Department of Children and Families initiative that helps participating child care providers offer school-readiness instruction to eligible four-year-olds. State funding covers the Get Kids Ready instructional hours, making the program free to families.

Located inside Trinity Lutheran Church, Tiny Treasures recently celebrated 25 years of serving local children and families. The preschool has a long history as a 4K site for the Waupaca School District and is excited to serve four-year-olds again through Get Kids Ready.

Tiny Treasures is also raising funds through its Blocks for Badger effort for a major project to demolish and rebuild its preschool entryway in summer 2027. Church members and community members have begun donating to the project as the preschool continues working to make an impact in the community.

Families can enroll their child in Waupaca’s 4K program in the morning and then attend Tiny Treasures in the afternoon. The program meets Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

“Families work hard to support their households and communities, it’s exciting to tell them their children can spend the afternoon with us and the Get Kids Ready Program is free,” said program director Brittani Martin.

Along with Get Kids Ready, Tiny Treasures offers morning 3K, wraparound care and aftercare for school-age students. Together, these programs give families more options for early learning and care, while helping children build skills and confidence for life.
