Carol Ann Hanson, 85, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, was called home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2026, at Bethany Home in Waupaca.
Carol was born on October 23, 1940, in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, to Edwin and Verna (Kapitzke) Thiel. She graduated from Weyauwega-Fremont High School. Carol was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega.
Carol loved fishing in the Crystal River over the years and deer hunting. She and her husband, Duane, enjoyed taking in the countryside, especially in the fall, and their trips out West.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Duane Hanson; her daughter, Linda (Merlin) Peters; granddaughter, Erin (Gunner) Schutz; great-grandchildren, Paisley Schutz and Sage Schutz; and her brother, William (Sharon) Thiel. She is further survived by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Verna Thiel, son, Sanford Hanson, and her brother, Daniel Thiel.
A visitation for Carol will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. A Christian funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Aaron Kristopeit officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega.
