Daniel W. Kempf, age 70, of Fremont, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at his home in Fremont. He was born on February 8, 1956, the son of Warren and Adeline (Schellin) Kempf. Dan attended his elementary and middle school years at St. John Lutheran School in East Bloomfield. He then graduated high school from Weyauwega-Fremont in 1974.
On August 5, 1978, Dan married Barbara Allen at St. John Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield.
Dan worked for Faulks Brothers for 17 years, and then was employed by Waupaca Foundry for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fremont, where he was a former school board member and trustee. Dan also volunteered his time with the Tustin and Poy Sippi Fire Department, and also as a first responder for Poy Sippi and Fremont EMS. He enjoyed farming and being able to fix pretty much anything that needed fixing.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Barb; two daughters, Nichol (Eric) Martin, and their sons, Kody and Dillon; and Jennifer Kester, and her children, Gracie and Boone; his mother, Adeline Kempf; two brothers, Nathan (Janet) Kempf and Timothy (Laurie) Kempf; two sisters, Julie (Marlin) Kempf and Sarah Gieschen; his mother-in-law, Patricia Leupold; three sisters-in-law, Susan (Mark) Kaufmann, Brenda (Ken) Bell andHolly (Joyce) Allen; .
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine; his father, Warren Kempf, and a sister, Lynda Lewin, a brother-in-law, Paul Gieschen and a niece, Heather Lewin.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, , Fremont. Pastor Paul Mose will officiate. Inurnment will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. The Lewin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
