Sandra Kay "Sandy" Grenlie, 76, of Menominee, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2026 at Aurora Hospital surrounded by her close family and loved ones.
Sandy was born on March 3rd, 1950, originally from Waupaca, Wisconsin, before making her home in Menominee, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen “Smokey” Grenlie, with whom she shared many wonderful memories.
Sandy was the daughter of Normand Moak and Nancy (Steinberg) Moak, both who preceded her in death.
Throughout her life, Sandy was strong, hardworking and independent woman. She worked at a bank for many years and later served as the treasurer and clerk for the Town of Farmington in Waupaca, Wisconsin.
Sandy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Christie (Kenny Kaminske) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Jamie (Samantha) Zabel of Weyauwega, Wisconsin; and Jackie (Jamie Seid) of Menominee, Michigan. She is also survived by her siblings, Sue (Larry Rasmussen) and Gary Moak, and she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Moak.
She was a proud grandmother to Ryan Damrau, Megan Damrau, Cierra Christian, Marissa Seid, Larissa Zabel, Adam Zabel and was blessed with one great-grandchild, Dru. Special grand pups Aubra, Tucker, Stanley and Greta Lou.
Those who knew Sandy will remember her strength, independence, hard work, and of course, her sass. Sandy had a personality of her own and was never afraid to speak her mind or do things her way. She had a way of making sure you knew exactly what she was thinking and you always knew where you stood with her.
From cooking and baking up a storm to making sure no one ever went hungry, Sandy showed her love through the things she did for others. She could often be found barefoot, shorts and riding her lawnmower with a bandana on her head, wearing shorts even in the winter. She loved gardening, shopping for flowers and creating beautiful baskets and planters. In later years, you couldn’t walk in her house and not have UFC on the TV. She especially loved spoiling her sweet puppy dog Halle.
Sandy was also the type of woman who believed she could fix just about anything and she wasn’t about to let anyone tell her otherwise. Even in her last days, she was still trying to fix things and do things herself. That determination, stubbornness and independent spirit was Sandy through and through.
She loved going on road trips with Smokey and made memories along the way that her family will carry with them forever.
Sandy may have been strong-willed and a little sassy but underneath it all was a woman with a big heart who loved her family deeply. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter and lessons that will continue to live on through the people she loved.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, puppy dog Halle and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
At Sandy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private Christian burial will be held with her family. Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the Grenlie family with arrangements.
