Board approves 2.63% wage increase

Posted

NEW LONDON – Employees in the School District of New London will receive a 2.63% wage increase for the 2026-27 school year, which is equal to the current consumer price index (CPI).
The approval came at the board’s April 27 meeting.
The wage increase will have a $445,000 impact on the district’s budget. That total is comprised of a total increase of $300,000 for certified staff, $115,000 for support staff, and $30,000 for administrative staff.
Board Vice President Katie Batten said she thought the CPI of 2.63% was a generous increase to base wages for district employees. She said she based that on the fact that not everyone who works in the private sector is guaranteed a wage increase of the CPI percentage.
“I just think it’s nice that Joe (Marquardt, SDNL business services director), has budgeted this and thinks that we can afford it because that’s not the case at a lot of workplaces,” Batten said.
