WAUPACA – Halloween on Main will be back this year as the city approves street closures and the allowance of open alcoholic containers during the two-hour event.

Halloween on Main is a free event with food and beverages for sale by local businesses.

The event will take place Oct. 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; however, the street closures will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The street closures include Main Street from Simpson’s Restaurant past The Granite Cellar down to Elm Street.

This also includes the closures at Union Street, West Fulton Street, West Sessions Street from South Washington Street to Jefferson Street as well as Granite Street from North Washington St. to Main Street, down Water Street to Elm Street.

During that extended period from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. the council also voted to allow open intoxicants, where customers can purchase alcoholic beverages served in plastic or aluminum containers.

The businesses that residents will be allowed to buy from will be Doc Kelly’s Public House, Empty Barrel Distillery, Simpson’s Restaurant, Sulten Belly, The Grand National Lounge and The Pub.

There will also be Miller’s Pumpkins on display, the Mad Science Lab, a petting zoo, touch-a-truck as well as the Cloud Nine Fire Dancers and the UW-Stevens Point Jazz Band for entertainment.
