WEYAUWEGA – The Weyauwega Car Show is set to return to the downtown area Aug. 14. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature a diverse lineup of vehicles, food vendors and music provided by a DJ.
Lead organizer Dawn Timm said the show began the year with a zero-dollar budget as they launched the event under a new organization. Timm said local businesses stepped up to donate funds so that the event can continue.
Timm and her husband, Mike, who are currently doing business under the Weyauwega Car Show name, are also working toward establishing their own official nonprofit status before the end of the year.
Organizers are preparing for a massive turnout after drawing 220 registered cars and an estimated 2,000 attendees last year. Timm said the city council and local police have granted the show additional street space for this year’s event.
The show welcomes a wide variety of vehicles, including classic cars, modern “tuners,” and unique rides. ATVs, UTVs and motorcycles are prohibited.
Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 150 cars and six trophies will be handed out throughout the evening. The judges, who are kept secret until the show, consist of local community members and dignitaries.
Attendees can also expect food and beverages available from local Main Street bars, three food trucks, and a beverage truck.
Timm said her dedication to hosting the event stems from her passion for cars and a love for Weyauwega.
“I want to bring something into the community that people can enjoy,” she said.
The show will also give back to the community, as a portion of this year’s profits and raffle proceeds will be donated to Christ Lutheran Church & School to purchase new playground equipment.
