City to host second annual summer kickoff bash and night market

NEW LONDON — The New London Area Chamber of Commerce will launch the summer season on North Water Street in downtown New London with its second annual Summer Kickoff Bash and Night Market on Friday, June 5.
The community-wide celebration will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m..
This year’s event features expanded festivities to honor a pair of historic milestones: the 250th birthday of the United States and the 175th anniversary of New London.
The family-friendly evening will feature a curated night market highlighting local vendors and handmade items. Festivities include a dedicated kids zone, food trucks, and a beer garden for attendees ages 21 and older. The downtown district will be illuminated with bistro lights for the occasion.
Live country music will be provided by Nashville Pipeline, performing from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m..
The event was established to drive foot traffic directly into the downtown business district. In addition to boosting local retail and restaurant traffic, proceeds from the event directly benefit the community. Funds raised will help support New London’s collaborative grant-writer initiative, a shared resource between the City of New London, the Chamber of Commerce, and the School District of New London that secures outside funding for local infrastructure, education, and development projects.
