STEVENS POINT — The Board of Park Commissioners unanimously approved the continuation of alcohol sales by UWSP athletics at home games held at Community Stadium and the KB Willett Arena.
During the first year of alcohol sales at UWSP homes games, between both venues 4,291 beers were sold for a revenue of $30,573. Over the course of six home games at Community Stadium, 2,578 beers were sold and six non-alcoholic beers were sold, with revenue reaching $18,334. Throughout 12 home games at KB Willett Arena, 1,713 beers were sold for a revenue of $12,239.
In the first year of alcohol sales, six to eight student security personnel were present at each home game, in addition to two to three university officers, and three to four Athletic Administrators. The University reported “zero incidents” during beer sales, meaning no incidents of fake identifications or disturbances.
Brad Duckworth, UW-Stevens Point Director of Athletics, presented to the Board of Park Commissioners on June 3 about the university’s first year of alcohol sales.
“My staff and I went top to bottom with those that are working the game, we don’t have any problems with their operations.” Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Director, Dan Kremer, said. “I will give Brad and his team a lot of credit, everything they said they’d do last year, they delivered on.”
The university will annually provide sales and any incident data to the Board of Park Commissioners for review.
