Farmers Market moves to Union Street

Posted

WAUPACA – The Waupaca Farmers Market will be moving down one block to East Union Street for the next two summers.
The move comes ahead of the 2027 Fulton Street construction to get the Farmer’s Market processes down in the new location before the construction begins.
Ryan Brown, the county Director of Planning and Zoning, said that a concern from vendors was that the street is a bit narrower and loading and unloading could become an issue.
Brown, who was present at the April 21 city council meeting, said that the Farmer’s Market has been in that location before and that he is confident they will be able to navigate the tighter space.
Brown said that the number of vendors has increased this year as well, with a total of 52 vendors that have signed up.

The motion to close the street down for the market passed the council.
Mayor Brian Smith said the construction of the pedestrian bridge and Veteran’s Memorial Park may also affect the Farmer’s Market as well, which will also need to be evaluated in 2028 when construction begins.
The first Farmer’s Market of the year will be May 16, continuing every Saturday until the end of October, starting at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
