Frederick M. Unglaub

Frederick M. Unglaub, age 90, of Fremont, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at St. Joseph Residence in New London.  He was born on February 1, 1936 in South Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late William and Lucy(Markert) Unglaub.

Fred served his country in the US Army from 1961-63 and in the reserves from 1963-1965.  During his service, Fred worked as an artist, creating images for training manuals, and other signage used by the Army.  Following his service, Fred continued his artistry work as a self-employed graphic artist. Some of his work is still displayed throughout the area.

On October 13, 1962, Fred married Nancy Turner at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Milwaukee.  

Fred's favorite season was hunting and fishing season. He loved being outdoors.  He was also  a lifelong member of the NRA and belonged to the Midwest Decoy Collectors Association.  Fred also enjoyed being active in politics.  He spent time supporting political candidates by helping out with campaigning as well as marching in parades in support of his favorite politicians.

Fred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy; two sisters-in-law, Lynn Thurston and Karen Turner; many nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Unglaub, his sister, Margaret(William) Fischer; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Thurston and Herb Turner  

Visitation will be held at Lewin Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Fremont on Thursday, June 11, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm with Father Dave Hoffman offficiating.  Military Honors will be conducted by Fremont-Wolf River American Legion Post 391.  The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont is assisting the family with arrangements.
