Hortonville soccer falls in shootout

Hortonville Polar Bears soccer remained undefeated (20-0-3), taking down a visiting D.C. Everest on Oct. 30 in the Sectional Semifinal.

Cade Mansfield scored the first goal on a penalty kick at the 6:31 mark to give Hortonville the early 1-0 lead.

A header by Anthony Zanon gave the Polar Bears the 2-0 lead at 61:51, as Mansfield found Zanon for the assist.

D.C. Everest scored on a penalty kick to cut the Polar Bears’ lead in half

Hortonville’s defense finished the game holding the final score to 2-1 and advancing to take on Hudson.

Nov. 1

STEVENS POINT- The undefeated Hortonville Polar Bears took on the Hudson Raiders at a neutral field in Stevens Point on Nov. 1 with a WIAA state title bid on the line.

Mansfield scored two goals to tie Hudson 2-2 at the end of regulation.

The match went to a shootout, as Hudson outscored Hortonville 5-4 to advance to the WIAA state championships.
