Jazz & Cocktails Festival returns this weekend

Posted

WAUPACA — Now in its third year, the Jazz & Cocktails Festival returns May 29–31, bringing a dynamic blend of nationally celebrated artists and regional standouts to four intimate venues across three vibrant days.
“We’re really hitting our stride this year,” says Tony Wagner, drummer for Daddio and a key member of the event’s organizing team. “With Grammy-nominated vocalist Michael Mayo as our headline act, and performances from acclaimed entertainer and radio personality Steve March-Tormé, premier jazz vocalist Janet Planet, and Midwestern favorite Daddio, it’s a great opportunity for fans of live jazz and soul to experience top talent alongside fellow music lovers.”
Jazz & Cocktails is produced by the Waupaca Community Arts Board (WCAB), with primary sponsorship from Neuville Motors and additional support from the Woodpile Wildlife Foundation and a grant from the Waupaca Area Chamber. The festival continues to grow as a destination for music lovers seeking both artistry and atmosphere. Charismatic host Kyle Knoke of the Jazz Coterie returns as MC.

Friday, May 29
Starting at 7:30 p.m., a soulful opening at Odin & Freja’s in Scandinavia with BACKline Trio, followed by an open jam session—where the stage welcomes anyone ready to jump in.

Saturday, May 30
Starting at 3 p.m., a full day of music across the ICC Casino and The Wheelhouse, featuring Daddio, Steve March-Tormé, Kate Voss & The Hot Sauce, and Janet Planet with John Harmon. The night crescendos with Michael Mayo, whose boundary-pushing vocals promise a spellbinding close.

Sunday, May 31
Starting from 11 a.m. and lasting until 1 p.m., the festival drifts into its finale aboard the Chief Waupaca sternwheeler. This jazz cruise, featuring Jazz Orgy, offers a joyful collision of styles—bebop to blues, swing to soul...and perhaps a touch of polka—served alongside brunch and lake views.
