June Anne High

Posted

June Anne High, born in New London, Wisconsin, on June 6, 1926, passed away peacefully in Punta Gorda, Florida on May 30th, 2026. Just nine days short of her 100th birthday.

The beloved daughter of Gustave and Belle Fuerst, June married the love of her life, Vance E. High, on January 1, 1947. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family until Vance’s passing in 2006.

A proud Wisconsin native, June graduated from Waupaca High School and worked in the Veterans Service Office in the Waupaca County Court House before moving with Vance to Venice, Florida, in 1972. Though she happily embraced life as a Floridian, her heart always held a special place for Wisconsin—the Chain O’ Lakes, bridge club friends, neighbors, and the First United Methodist Church.

June was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She loved knitting, playing bridge, cheering on the Packers, and giving back—especially through her volunteer work at the Venice Florida Food Pantry and her handmade knitted scarfs, hats, and sweaters for children in need.

She is survived by her sons, Scott E. (RaeAnn) High of Jacksonville, FL, and Dean V. High of Menasha, WI; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance; sisters Alice, Inez, and Eileen; and daughter-in-law Patricia A. High.

A private family service will be held graveside with interment in the High family lot at Lakeside Cemetery in Waupaca. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patricia Ann High Cancer Fund, c/o ThedaCare Family of Foundations, 1818 N. Meade St., Appleton, WI 54911.

June will be remembered for her smile, her hugs, and her gift for making everyone feel special.
