HORTONVILLE – For decades, the building at 208 W. Main Street in the heart of downtown Hortonville echoed with the roar of classic motorcycles and the familiar aesthetic of Hardtails Saloon.
Today, the space has fallen into a different kind of rhythm—one marked by warm lighting, soft colors, marble finishes, and a profound sense of purpose.
Dennis and Aimee Hagen officially celebrated the grand opening of P4:13 Wine & Spirits Lounge this past weekend, introducing the community to a new gathering place built entirely on a foundation of faith, remembrance, and local heritage.
A divine name and a tragic loss
The name of the new lounge at 208 W. Main is a direct reference to Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
It is a scripture that became the anchor for the Hagen family following an unimaginable tragedy.
In March 2024, the Hagens lost their 18-year-old son, Dayton, in a fatal car accident.
“Losing a child is something no parent can ever truly prepare for, and the grief that follows changes you forever,” Aimee Hagen shared. “During that time, God became our refuge. Through prayer, faith, and the support of family and friends, He gave us the strength to keep moving forward one day at a time. P4:13 is more than a business name—it is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, God is faithful.”
Aimee explains that the upscale lounge was not a venture she ever envisioned navigating after such a devastating personal loss. Instead, she views the lounge as an inspiration straight from God, brought to fruition through His timing and doors that miraculously opened along the way.
“I often say that P4:13 is living proof that God can bring beauty from brokenness,” she said.
Flipping the former Hardtails Saloon
The physical transformation of the property at 208 W. Main required extensive structural overhaul. The family inherited the downtown building from Dennis’s late aunt, prompting them to look at the classic Main Street footprint with entirely fresh eyes.
Two years ago, Hardtails Saloon and Catering expanded and moved down the block to 302.W. Main Street where they are today.
The former building at 208 W. Main remained vacant for some time.
The Hagens set out to renovate and pivot to an elegant, refined atmosphere. The building underwent complete plumbing and electrical updates, alongside an entirely redesigned layout.
The results feature a striking marble-topped bar, comfortable lounge seating, custom artwork, and subtle faith-inspired design touches throughout.
“Our goal was to create a space that feels sophisticated without feeling intimidating,” Aimee noted.
“A place where guests can relax, enjoy a glass of wine, share a charcuterie board, and truly enjoy the moment. In today’s fast paced world, we often forget to simply sit together and enjoy each other’s company.”
Fellowship on the menu
The curation of the menu was handled with equal deliberation. P4:13 features a diverse global wine selection, premium bourbons for enthusiasts, and handcrafted signature cocktails with intentional names like the Faithful Old Fashioned, the Fellowship Mule, the Lemon Drop Martini, and the Blue Marble Martini.
Complementing the drink menu are thoughtfully arranged charcuterie boards, deliberately portioned to encourage sharing, conversation, and fellowship.
Looking past the grand opening, the Hagens envision the lounge evolving into a multi-faceted hub for the village. Future scheduling will include traditional bourbon and wine tastings, ladies’ wine nights, and private event bookings.
Furthermore, the doors are open to community groups looking for meeting spaces or Bible studies. One concept specifically close to the family’s heart is the development of a men’s Bible study named “Pull Me Out of the Fire,” which will focus on themes of redemption, transformation, and finding purpose through Christ.
A living testimony
As Main Street continues its economic revitalization, the Hagens hope P4:13 serves as a unique destination that encourages visitors to spend time in Hortonville and invest back into local businesses.
Ultimately, however, they want their neighbors to know that the new storefront is far more than a typical retail lounge.
“It is a testimony,” Aimee said. “It is a testimony of faith, healing, perseverance, and God’s ability to bring purpose out of pain. Our hope is that every person who walks through our doors feels welcomed, appreciated, and encouraged. No matter where someone is in their faith journey—or in life—we want them to know they belong here.”
