NEW LONDON – There will be no contested elections on the ballot for the April 7 spring election for the New London Common Council or the New London Board of Education.
School board
On the New London School Board, the seats of Board President John Heideman and board member Chris Martinson are up for election. While Heideman has decided to run for reelection, Martinson has decided to not seek reelection.
Heideman and Jeff Gulbrandsen have submitted candidacy paperwork to be on the ballot for the New London School Board.
Heideman and Gulbrandsen will be the only two candidates on the ballot for the two seats up for election on the New London School Board.
City council
In addition to the mayorship being on the ballot in the spring, there are five seats up for election on the New London Common Council. The incumbents for all the seats up for election have filed candidacy paperwork to seek reelection except for Dennis Herter, who represented District 3. Herter resigned from the council effective Jan. 1.
The council members seeking reelection and will be running unopposed include: John Faucher, District 1; John Hass, District 2; Dave Dorsey, District 4; and Mike Barrington, District 5. There will be no candidate on the ballot for Herter’s seat in District 3, as no one filed candidacy paperwork for that seat.
Mayor Mark Herter is also seeking reelection, and will run unopposed.
