Order to vacate: University Inn & Suites

Hotel declared hazardous

Posted

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Police Department issued an Order to Vacate and Cease Occupancy for the University Inn & Suites, located at 5110 Main Street.
In a media release, Fire Chief J.B. Moody cites the reason for the order is due to “unsafe conditions that present hazards to life and safety.” All guests, staff, and occupants of the University Inn & Suites were required to vacate the University Inn & Suites by 4 p.m. on Jan. 8. In order for staff and occupants to return to the building, all identified hazards must be corrected, a re-inspection must be completed, and written approval to re-occupy must be issued by the Stevens Point Fire Department.
Legacy Family Restaurant, which shares an address with the University Inn & Suites, is unaffected by the Order to Vacate and Cease Occupancy. The restaurant will remain open and operating, with Chief Moody stating, “The Legacy Restaurant, located on the property, is not impacted by this order and will remain open. The restaurant is up to code and does not present any life safety concerns at this time.”
