NEW LONDON – Shamrock Heights Golf Course has been named the 2026-27 Business Partner of the Year by the School District of New London.
Two businesses – Shamrock Heights Golf Course and New London Building Supply – were under consideration for the award at the New London Board of Education’s Jan. 14 meeting. After some discussion, the board voted to give the award to Shamrock Heights Golf Course.
During the discussion, New London Superintendent Scott Bleck told the board that Shamrock Heights Golf Course has supported the New London High School Girls Golf team’s inaugural season. It has also been a longtime supporter of the district’s Boys Golf team.
Shamrock Heights Golf Course has provided a practice and competition venue for both teams.
The business has also hosted the Sectional State Cross Country meet.
“Their commitment to supporting activities and showcasing our district on a larger stage is deeply appreciated,” it was stated in the Topic Summary Sheet (TSS) in the board packet.
Bleck said New London Building Supply has been part of the district’s concession stand construction project.
According to the TSS, New London Building Supply has also donated pails to support the district’s football program, has supplied wood to be used to construct the display case at the high school, and has partnered with the district on the construction of the stadium concession stand and restrooms.
“Two great organizations that support our district in their own capacity,” Bleck said.
Board President John Heideman said both businesses are deserving of being recognized as Business Partner of the Year.
Board Vice President Kattie Batten said with the inaugural season of Girls Golf, it would be timely to award it to Shamrock Heights Golf Course.
“That’s what I was thinking,” said Board Treasurer Mark Grossman. “Maybe Shamrock this year, and then next year, (New London Building Supply) when the community has had an opportunity see the bathrooms.”
The Business Partner of the Year award was started by the district last school year when Tigerton Lumber Company was named the first recipient of the award.
