Sisters open boutique for kids

Posted

WAUPACA – As downtown Waupaca continues to grow, a boutique focused on children is set to open soon.
Sisters Chelsea Rudig and Delaney Schroeder, are working hard for the grand opening of April and Mae’s on Main, April 18.
Rudig was looking for something new career-wise and asked her sister if she wanted to open a store in their hometown of Waupaca, Schroeder agreed to give the venture a go.
However, they needed an idea for the store, the two started thinking about what kind of store would work well in Waupaca.
Schroeder said she had the idea of children’s boutique because there is a bit of a hole in the market in Waupaca for kids clothing.

“We just knew we didn’t want to do something that’s already been done on Main Street,” Schroeder said.
Armed with a business idea and a store name, which is a combination of their middle names, they found a building for lease on Main Street and began their journey of business ownership.
The new boutique will have a variety of price points, with items ranging infant to youth, toys and accessories as well as a handful of crafty projects for a fee that kids can complete.
There will be a couple activities that kids and parents can participate in during store hours, a charm bar and custom trucker hat bar.
The trucker hat design station will allow people to pick out ways to decorate a hat, be it a patch or set of charms.
The charm bar is similar, in that people can pick out charms to add to a necklace or bracelet.
There will also be permanent jewelry available to purchase, Schroeder said.
Rudig said there will also be the opportunity to design your own cosmetic bag as well.
The store will feature items from baby to tween with a variety of brands and some kids shirts highlighting the City of Waupaca and the Chain O’Lakes.
There will also be toys for sale, some cosmetics as well as a corner for the mom’s, which, Rudig said, they will call the “mom shop.”
This area will feature items like lounge wear in a variety of sizes, Rudig said.
Schroeder said there is also a basement area that they have worked to renovate into a children’s birthday party area.
The party area will be rentable for parents with a tiered pricing program from renting the space and decorating and running the party on your own to having the party planned, decorated and games set, and everything in-between.
Reservations for the event space will open up on opening day, Schroeder said.
On opening weekend, Schroeder said, the store will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both April 18 and 19.
That Saturday they will have a face painter at the store from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
After opening weekend the hours until Memorial Day weekend will be closed Sundays and Tuesdays, while they are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and open Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The summer hours will be extended.
More information can be found on their Facebook page and Instagram pages at April and Mae’s on Main, with a full website on the way.
The store is located at 205 North Main Street.
