Sponsorship renewals approved for Swan Park

Posted

WAUPACA – A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was approved at a Nov. 4 city council meeting to outline the framework to start or renew sponsorships and naming rights for the field, dugouts and batting cages at Swan Park.
The current sponsors will have the first right to renew their sponsorship, of which the deadline to renew is Jan. 1.
Swan Park was built in 1999, and the naming rights and sponsorship revenue have been used to cover facility maintenance and upgrades to Swan Park.
The efforts are a collaboration between the City of Waupaca, the Waupaca Baseball Organization and the Waupaca Area Youth Softball Organization, who have all agreed to work closely to ensure that all of the sponsors are aware of the deadline for renewal.
Laura Colbert, the parks and recreation director, said the payments from the naming rights will also be used towards youth sports programming in the Waupaca community, as agreed on by all parties.
Any organization not wishing to renew will have their sign taken down and the space will be open for a new sponsor to start.
The vote was six to zero in favor of accepting the MOU, with one council member abstaining, which was Cory Nagel who is on the Waupaca Baseball Organization board.
