Young artists honored

Visit the Youth Art Month exhibit at the library

WAUPACA — The Waupaca Area Public Library is hosting Youth Art Month, an exhibition of the best artwork from School District of Waupaca, ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade students. Art teachers that selected pieces for display at the library were Mackenzie Burns (WLC and CEC), Art Schulz (middle school), Mathew Lawniczak (WLC) and Tricia Price (high school).
A reception was held on February 9 to announce award winners, selected by a local artist. Awards were given for elementary school (K-4 grades), middle school (5-8 grades) and high school (9-12 grades). Best in Show is awarded to the high school student with an outstanding portfolio of work. Best in Show artist this year was Kendra Hotvedt.

“Youth Art Month is an exhibit that everyone looks forward to. It’s a ray of sunshine during our winter months!” said Liz Kneer, Exhibit Room Coordinator. “We see many new faces at the library, and are excited to welcome everyone to our space. Arts education is so important for all students and we are honored to display these beautiful, fun, creative pieces at the library.”
Youth Art Month is a partnership between the Waupaca Area Public Library, the Waupaca Library Foundation, and the School District of Waupaca and will be on display at Waupaca Area Public Library from February 7 to March 28. Exhibits are located in the lower level of the library, and are always free and open to the public during regular library hours.
